Learn more about your Direct Rent Supplement.
Direct Rent Supplements (DRS) are subsidies paid directly to Capital Region Housing subsidy recipients to help make their rent with a private landlord more affordable. Capital Region Housing is not the landlord in this program.
Recipient households live in private rental homes and receive a monthly supplement amount to help make their rent more affordable.
This program is administered within the City of Edmonton and surrounding communities. The Direct Rent Supplement program is governed by the Rent Supplement Regulation and the Social Housing Accommodation Regulation.
PLEASE NOTE: Capital Region Housing has exhausted all available funding for the DRS program for 2019. However, we are accepting new applications. These applications will be placed on the waitlist. Once a subsidy becomes available, it will be offered to the eligible applicant with the highest point score.
We will honour all approved commitments for subsidies in 2019. Recipients who continue to be eligible and who adhere to the subsidy agreement for the DRS program will continue to receive the subsidy in 2019.
Upcoming payments for monthly subsidies will be released from our bank (RBC) on the dates below. Cheques will also be mailed on the dates below.
Oct. 25 | Nov. 25 | Dec. 19
